How to do Makarasana

Makarasana is a Sanskrit word which is made up of two words Makara and Asana. Makara means Crocodile and Asana means Pose. The posture of a crocodile lying in a calm state in a river or pond is called Makarasana.

  • Lie down on your stomach.
  • Keeping the head and shoulders up, rest the chin on the palms and elbows on the ground.
  • Keep the elbows together for more twist in the spine.
  • Do not create much tension in the body while doing this asana and practice Makarasana with a calm mind.
  • Choose the right elbow position according to your body. The best place is where you feel completely relaxed in your back and neck.


Before performing :


  • Practice Makarasana in the morning in a calm environment and keep the stomach empty before practicing Makarasana. If for some reason you practice this asana in the evening, then do not eat anything for several hours before the practice, only then this asana will be beneficial. 


Precaution :
