There is a real category of water loss that a competent property owner handles with rented equipment, and a real category that should never be attempted. The trouble is that both look the same from the doorway.

The decision is not about how handy you are. It comes down to three conditions, each of which you can check in about ten minutes, and only one of which most people think to check.

Test One: What the Water Came From

The first question is the source, and it is binary in practice.

Test Three: Who Is in the Building

The third condition has nothing to do with the water.

What Not to Attempt, Regardless
